Bormio is located in Alta Valtellina in the Stelvio National Park.
It has about 4000 inhabitants and for its particular geographical
position, near numerous alpine passes, (Stelvio, Umbrail, Gavia)
and its famous thermal waters boasts an important historical
past. Bormio, was in fact already known by the ancient
Romans.
Tourism development has led this country to be an ideal
destination for both summer and winter holidays.
During the year it is also possible to appreciate the Spas (Bagni
Vecchi, Bagni Nuovi and the new thermal complex of Bormio
Terme) all recently renovated.
The summer season also offers alot of possibilities such as:
excursions, guided visits to the civic museum, to the
naturalistic-mineralogical museum and to the botanical garden;
the opportunity to play golf in the equipped 9-hole course, horse
riding, mountaineering, mountain biking and summer skiing at the
Stelvio Pass.
In winter, the presence of snow on the ski slopes is guaranteed
by artificial snow; 50 km of downhill slopes, cross country
skiing and ice palace.
The eno-gastronomic specialties contribute to the interest and
pleasure of visiting this "magnificent land".
